England Juniors at the World Championships
15/04/2010
The World Junior Shore Angling Championships held in the Grandola region of Portugal produced an exceptionally tight finish, after the four matches three teams were tying in 1st position with 13 points only for the young England Lions to lose out on countback, they had to settle for the silver medal behind Italy while Spain came in third.   There was again another tie on 14 points with France getting the nod over Portugal, yes just one point separated the top five teams followed by Croatia.

There was more good news in the individual classification with Stephen Rathbone who collected a gold medal in Spain two years ago getting on the rostrum once again to collect the individual silver medal, he caught 72 fish in the four matches which mainly comprised of bream and golden grey mullet.

The England Team comprised of: Stephen Rathbone (West Bay), Callum Graham (Bournemouth), Daniel Stote (Lymington). Michael Dawkins (Lymington) and David Morris (Deal).  The manager was Chris Clark from Sway who was assisted by Andrew Dawkins from Lymington.

The team would like to thanks Tronixpro for financial assistance, Fox International for multi tip rods, Ian Houlton of Moonfleet Angling supplies for fluro carbon hook line and  Kamasan for B541 fine wire spade end size 8 & 10 hooks which gave them the cutting edge.
